THE REALITY OF GETTING LICENSED
Getting your real estate license in Alberta costs more than a course fee
Pre-licensing education is just one part of the journey. To become a fully licensed agent, you first need to apply for eligibility with RECA, enrol in RECA-recognized courses, pass a separate exam for each course, and pay licensing fees before you can practice.
Sitting before you’re ready is the most expensive mistake in this process. That’s what Relo has built to change. ReadyEngine™ gives you a real answer to the question you’re asking the night before you book.
ReadyEngine™ shows when you’re ready to write your RECA exam.
*Registration requires a myRECA account and your RECA Contact ID.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Your questions about Practice of Residential Real Estate
This course is for anyone who has completed and passed Fundamentals of Real Estate and is continuing toward a residential licence. It's where the core knowledge becomes the day-to-day work: valuing property, spotting defects, and handling residential transactions. It's also well suited to existing agents moving into the residential sector.
On Relo, course completion consists of achieving a ReadyRating 4, passing two practice exams, and watching all video lessons. To know you’re truly ready for your exam, refer to your ReadyRating score as that gives you a real-time prediction of your exam odds. It stays updated throughout your progress, so that you know when to take the exam.
Unlike the previous Relo platform where each course length was 75 hours, there's no set timeframe with ReadyEngine™. Our courses are concept mastery driven, meaning you progress by demonstrating understanding of each topic rather than spending a set number of hours.
You can learn at your own pace, or if you already know some topics, our initial assessment helps you skip concepts you understand. The goal is to ensure you're truly ready for your exam and to receive a passing grade on the first try.
RECA gives you 3 months from course completion and 2 attempts. That window is RECA's, not Relo's. It's the reason we recommend booking at ReadyRating Level 4 rather than as soon as you finish the lessons: you want the clock to start when you're actually ready.
Yes. Fundamentals of Real Estate is RECA's mandatory prerequisite for all pre-licensing education in Alberta. You must complete Fundamentals before you can enrol in Practice of Residential Real Estate. If you completed Fundamentals through another RECA-recognized provider, you are still eligible to enrol in Practice of Residential Real Estate through Relo. Your myRECA account is how we verify your completion status.
No. This course is specifically for the residential license. The Fundamentals course you already took is the prerequisite for both practice areas.
We do not currently offer a commercial real estate course on ReadyEngine™. If you already purchased our Practice of Commercial Real Estate course, you can still complete it on the previous version of Relo at courses.relo.ca.
